Having had a run out for Redruth versus Cinderford last Saturday, the Cornish Pirates have been quick to recall Canadian international Matt Evans back to their ranks.
Matt’s last appearance for the Pirates, playing at full-back, was when he injured a knee in a British & Irish Cup encounter played against London Irish last December, and it is in the same competition that he is likely to reappear this weekend.
Scheduled to play Scarlets Premiership Select away, the Round 3 fixture will take place at Carmarthen Park, the home of Carmarthen Quins, where the kick-off is at 2.30pm.
Commenting on Matt’s return to fitness, coach Gavin Cattle said:
We are all delighted for Matt who is coming back into contention after a long lay-off. It has been a frustrating time for him, however maintaining a positive focus and staying determined throughout, he is now looking fit and ready to go.
Competing this year in Pool 5, the Pirates will be keen to seek another victory, having already won their opening two games away to Hartpury RFC (35-19) and home to Ulster A (23-14).
