A match day collection held at the recent Cornish Pirates versus Coventry game helped raise the very worthy sum of £583-39 for the RSPCA Cornwall Branch.
The Pirates of Penzance & Newlyn RFC and the Cornish Pirates have always been fortunate for the support given them by cherished volunteers, whose input in a variety of ways over the years has been truly incredible.
Representing the Cornwall Branch of the RSPCA, ground staff volunteer Paul Kempson, who has been an experienced and much respected RSPCA inspector, will be present with his pet dog ‘Maverick’ at Saturday’s Cornish Pirates versus Coventry game (ko 1.30pm).

Supporters will be looking forward to Saturday’s 7th versus 3rd in the league contest which kicks off at the earlier time of 1.30pm.
Having completed their Pool games unbeaten in this season’s Championship Cup, as the highest-ranking club the Cornish Pirates will play fourth ranked Jersey Reds at the Mennaye Field in the semi-final, with the contest now confirmed for Friday 5th May, kick-off at 7.30pm.
Following the conclusion of the pool rounds of The Championship Cup, we can now confirm the semi-finals.
A match day collection held at the Mennaye Field when the Cornish Pirates played Caldy last Saturday raised £432-55 for Cornwall Hospice Care.
Cornish Pirates’ supporters will be looking forward to this Saturday’s Round 5 game in the Championship Cup (ko 2.30pm), because a victory would assure a semi-final place for the team. Having said that, we expect nothing less than a tough contest. The sides have already met twice this season, with both games played at Caldy’s Paton Field ground. The Pirates won 26-7 in the Cup last November, before in December snow they lost 15-14 in the league.
Following their annual match day collection held when the Cornish Pirates recently played Jersey Reds at the Mennaye Field, it has since been confirmed that the magnificent sum of £694-35 was raised.
