Partner the Pirates...

The spearhead of Rugby & Development across Cornwall

Partner Rugby Clubs

Klubow Rugbi Keskoweth

One of the ‘Cornish Pirates In The Community’ strategic aims is to develop rugby from its grassroots in Cornwall. Cornwall’s unique ‘one and all’ spirit binds the partner rugby clubs together and plays a huge role in the identity of Cornish rugby and the Cornish Pirates.

The benefits of partner rugby club affiliation include:
• Junior Guard of Honour duties
• Half time rugby games
• Invitations to coaching experiences
• Invitations to junior and minis sessions
• Invitational player appearances

The Cornish Pirates are committed to a ‘one and all’ approach to a variety of educational, charitable and community projects.

Falmouth RFC

Falmouth RFC is one of the oldest rugby clubs in Cornwall dating back to 1873. It is situated in the heart of the community of Falmouth and is a Green Space in the middle of housing and roads.

It is so important to the community that three years ago 5000 inhabitants signed a petition to `Save the Recreation Ground` to stop the local council from building` Low Cost Housing` on the site of the rugby club.

As a result Falmouth RFC has negotiated a new 40 year Lease with Cornwall Council and our tenure at the Recreation Ground is now secure. The club can now plan for the future.

Newquay Hornets RFC

Newquay Hornets RFCNewquay Hornets RFC obtained the RFU Seal of Approval some 6 years ago and last season obtained the award of “RFU Accreditation” this has been applied to all three sections of the club and has just been re-awarded for this season.

Newquay Hornets RFC stands as one of the biggest and most successful clubs in Cornwall with a membership of over 550 of which we have 357 playing members.

The club has players in every age group from U6s right up through all Mini/Junior (Youth) age groups, including Colts, Girls and Seniors, we have recently registered our first ever Senior Ladies section and hope to see this grow this season.

The club judges its success on the retention of players and on the number of players we have assisted onto the “Player Pathway”.

Many of our youth players play within Cornwall’s County Pathway and some have progressed into Regional Accadamies, in the girls section we have had outstanding succes having produced 3 England U20s players.

The Club’s Mission statement is that “We offer fun and fitness to One and All through the sport of Rugby” and we would like to encourage players of all abilites and ages to come along and give Rugby a go.
