Some very good news confirms that Davidstow Cheddar are sponsoring the Cornish Pirates and supplying their 2-year-matured cheddar as part of the team’s daily diet throughout the next three seasons.

Exercise triggers the breakdown of muscle protein, the rate at which this happens depends on the exercise and your level of training, but even well-trained athletes experience muscle protein breakdown.

Consuming an adequate amount of protein in our case “Davidstow 2-year-matured Cheddar” after a workout gives your body the amino acids it needs to repair and rebuild these proteins. It also gives you the building blocks required to build new muscle tissue. In addition to protein and calcium, cheese also contains a variety of vitamins and minerals which help keep our bodies in tip-top form. These include Phosphorous, Vitamin A and Vitamin B12, which helps red blood cell formation, normal cell division, and also helps our immune system to function.

Full-fat cheese is rich in conjugated linoleic acids, compounds that seem to promote artery health, reduce body fat, and fight inflammation. One other little-known fact; because cheddar cheese is a fermented food it has loads of probiotic bacteria.
