Some very good news confirms that Davidstow Cheddar are sponsoring the Cornish Pirates and supplying their 2-year-matured cheddar as part of the team’s daily diet throughout the next three seasons.
Exercise triggers the breakdown of muscle protein, the rate at which this happens depends on the exercise and your level of training, but even well-trained athletes experience muscle protein breakdown.
Consuming an adequate amount of protein in our case “Davidstow 2-year-matured Cheddar” after a workout gives your body the amino acids it needs to repair and rebuild these proteins. It also gives you the building blocks required to build new muscle tissue. In addition to protein and calcium, cheese also contains a variety of vitamins and minerals which help keep our bodies in tip-top form. These include Phosphorous, Vitamin A and Vitamin B12, which helps red blood cell formation, normal cell division, and also helps our immune system to function.
Full-fat cheese is rich in conjugated linoleic acids, compounds that seem to promote artery health, reduce body fat, and fight inflammation. One other little-known fact; because cheddar cheese is a fermented food it has loads of probiotic bacteria.
Oh, and don’t forget to look out for Davidstow Cheddar on the Cornish Pirates corner flags!
Commenting for the Cornish Pirates, Robin James, Chief Operations Officer said:
We are delighted to have Davidstow Mature Cheddar onboard; the quality of their 2-year-old extra mature cheddar is excellent for our players nutrition throughout our season and is an example of another quality Cornish Company sponsoring the Cornish Pirates, which is fantastic to see.
Speaking for Saputo Dairy UK, Jonathan Westlake, Davidstow Brand Controller commented:
We are really proud to be supporting the Cornish Pirates. Our cheese is made with 100% Cornish milk and it is great to know we are helping the players get the best possible cheddar cheese as part of their balanced diet. The Davidstow creamery won a fantastic 52 Gold awards in the 2019 show season, so we know the players really are getting the very best. Also, everyone involved at Davidstow would like to wish the team best wishes and success for the coming season!
