Receiving a request for coach parking facilities, the Pirates were more than happy to assist our good friends from Exeter Chiefs this past couple of days.
Visiting West Cornwall for a pre-season squad get together, two coaches were used for transportation of personnel who on Thursday evening were hosted under a marquee near Paul in a field owned by Gavin Rodda. Former Pirates youth section product Jack Nowell and cluib sponsor Nick George helped link arrangements, with catering and refreshments provided by another supportive sponsor in Lee Miles from Roseworthy Farms.
Household names from the rugby world managed to survive Storm Evert during their night under canvas, after having participated in various fun challenges including lawn mower racing and on a water slide. As for Friday, it was on to Perranporth where, on such a day, surfing was out of the question, but their visit was still to be very much enjoyed.
Back to their transport, the main Dartline Coaches operated coach, pictured with driver John, is mightily impressive. At a cost of just over £400,000 it is the Chiefs’ latest state-of-the-art team vehicle, that is fitted with all the latest mod-cons, including an on-board kitchen, Digital TV, DVD player, X-Box and music system.
Images displayed (Photo credit: Phil Westren) include two coaches used for transportation (the main one with coach driver John). Note the back seats and tables in the main coach, which John confirmed are ones favoured by and normally quickly taken by Jack Nowell and another former Pirate, Luke Cowan-Dickie, who is presently touring with the British Lions in South Africa.
