The proceeds of a bucket match day collection held when the Cornish Pirates recently played Richmond at the Mennaye Field, Penzance, amounted to the fine sum of £411-69.
Kevin Williams, who is a Cornwall Rugby Referees Society, Training & Development Officer was delighted with the figure raised, which will benefit the RFU Injured Players Foundation. Also an Assistant Referee on the day – it proudly his first such appointment at a Championship match – Kevin will be running in the forthcoming London Marathon, keen to help raise more monies for the worthy charity.
Kevin commented:
“To the Cornish Pirates a massive thank you for the opportunity to have the bucket collection at the game.
“The collectors and everyone associated really enjoyed themselves and it was that little extra special that it was on a day when I had my
first appointment as an Assistant Referee at a Championship match.”
