Good news for the Cornish Pirates confirms that flyhalves Arwel Robson and Harry Bazalgette have both signed a further one-year contract for the club.

During his time in Cornwall, the now 25-year-old former Wales under 20s player has impressed in making 26 appearances and accumulating a total of 172 points.

Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle is thrilled to have secured Arwel’s services for another year. He has commented:

“Retaining a player of Arwel’s ability really is very pleasing. This season we have seen his quality and that he leads the attack well and putting aside past injuries has also been robust in his play.

“Signed on for a second full year, he is someone who should now kick on still further and I am excited to see what more he can bring, adding to a skill set that is already plain to see.”

It was also confirmed that fellow fly-half Harry Bazalgette has also signed a one-year contract.

It was first announced in February last year that Inverness-born Harry had signed a contract to the end of the 2020/21 campaign. He made three appearances and impressing with his attitude and development then signed a new contract for this season.

Now aged 23, the former Harrow RFC, Wimborne and Exeter University player has in total made 19 appearances and scored 51 points for the Cornish Pirates. Also, at the club’s recent Dinner & Awards evening, he was presented with the Sportsman of the Year trophy.

Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle, who is pleased that Harry will again be on board, has commented:

“Harry is a young player who is beginning to build a reputation. He has made a good number of appearances for us off the bench and has also, more recently in the Championship Cup, had a run of starts.”

“A prolific goalkicker, ‘Baz’ kicks well out of hand and his all-round game is developing well. He is also a personality who is good around the club, and we are delighted to have him on board.”
