Pirates Girls & Ladies Entertain

Rugby players from the Pirates Girls & Ladies Section will provide the half-time exhibition of rugby when the Cornish Pirates play Nottingham at the Mennaye Field, Penzance, on Sunday (ko 2.30pm).

There is no doubt that events such as the Women’s Rugby World Cup have helped increase the profile of women’s sport, which is certainly the case for the game of rugby, so it is great to see girls and ladies involved with the Pirates.

The Rugby Football Union is keen to get more girls and ladies participating in the game, be that as players, coaches or volunteers, as it is a sport that can provide a pivotal role to boost lives, through appreciating rugby’s values of teamwork and respect, besides being a way of keeping physically fit.

The Pirates Girls & Ladies train at Penzance & Newlyn RFC’s Mennaye Nurseries pitch each Wednesday from 6-7:30pm. Girls from the age of 11 years up to ladies, of all ages and ability, are welcome.

Tickets for Sunday’s Cornish Pirates versus Nottingham match will be available at the gates on the day, whilst in advance they can be purchased either through the ticket office, telephone 01736-331961, or on-line. The ticket office is open Monday to Friday from 9am until 12 noon.
