When the Cornish Pirates recently played Doncaster Knights at the Mennaye Field, a match day collection in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care raised the very worthy sum of £560-56.
Speaking on behalf of Cornwall Hospice Care, the charity’s Community Fundraiser (West), Julie Treneer, said:
“Warm words of appreciation are expressed to the Cornish Pirates and everyone who donated to our team of volunteers at the game. The rain held off whilst the volunteers whizzed around collecting from a very generous crowd – we raised £560-56.
“The team from Cornwall Hospice Care are very grateful for your kind donations which allows us to continue to provide care to our terminally ill who live in Cornwall. Our running costs amount to £6.5 million a year, and despite receiving 17% of our costs from the Government this year, the shortfall is raised by our fundraising (£5.5 million) and the generosity of the public. Once again, thank you for your generosity and kindness.”
