‘Service of Thanksgiving’ for John Uren
Following the recent passing of John Uren, aged 94, it has been confirmed that a Service of Thanksgiving in his memory will take place at Wesley Rock Chapel, Heamoor, on Friday 9th March, commencing 2pm.
John held a special place in the history of the Pirates, having featured for Penzance & Newlyn RFC in the club’s first ever game, played against Guy’s Hospital at the Mennaye Field on the 22nd September 1945.
A knowledgeable man, well-liked in the community, John was born at Trescrowan Farm in Bone Valley and it was there that he died peacefully after a long and hard-working life.
