After an excellent opening month of the new calendar year, the Pirates will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to 2024 and stay around the top of the Championship table. Here’s what’s coming up in a huge February:
Saturday 3 February – Bedford Blues v Cornish Pirates, Goldington Road (Kick off 4pm)
With just three points and two league places separating the sides, we travel to Goldington Road for the second of three consecutive away fixtures. The Blues have had a great season too and will be no doubt roared on by their excellent home support, with their swashbuckling brand of attacking rugby. The Pirates will be looking to avenge one of their two defeats at The Mennaye this season against Saturdays hosts.
Saturday 10 February – Ealing Trailfinders v Cornish Pirates, Trailfinders Sports Club (Kick off 3pm)
It’s another stern test up next, as we head to top of the table Ealing for this rearranged fixture. The Trailfinders are currently the only team in the Championship ahead of the Pirates, by the slender margin of two points, albeit with a game in hand. Can the Pirates cause an upset and even snatch top spot?
Friday 23 February – Cornish Pirates v Royal Navy, The Mennaye (Kick off 7:30pm)
We round off the month with a friendly fixture against the Royal Navy, in our only home fixture of the month. This replaces the cancelled Jersey Reds fixture and is counted in your season tickets. The sides met previously in September 2021, for the first home game in front of supporter post covid, with the Pirates coming out on top 55-3. Don’t forget to get your tickets now and bring your service or veteran ID for a £5 ticket!
