News from the Cornish Pirates confirms that fly-half Arwel Robson has returned to Wales with his family, for a playing opportunity.
Caerphilly-born Arwel, aged 26, is a former Wales under 20s player who arrived at the Cornish Pirates initially on loan from Newport Gwent Dragons in April 2021, before then signing full-time with the club. In total by the end of last season he had accumulated 51 appearances and scored an impressive overall total of 307 points.
Commenting on Arwel’s departure, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle said:
“At the time Arwel joined us he had been out for a spell and hadn’t played a lot of rugby. However, since then he has managed to get some decent rugby under his belt in making 51 appearances for the club, and now has a marvellous opportunity to take his game to the next level.
“It is exciting for Arwel, and I know it is something he is looking forward to, so we thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future.”
Arwel has also commented:
“I would like to thank everyone at the Cornish Pirates for the fantastic support over the last two seasons from the coaching staff, fellow team members, fans, and everyone behind the scenes.
“Thoroughly enjoying my time in Cornwall, and making friends for life, the county will always have a place in mine and Sasha’s hearts, as our little girl was born here.
“Memories have been made, and although I am looking forward to the future and the opportunity, best wishes and every success are expressed to the Pirates going forward – and as a family we will always look forward to return visitswhen we can.”
