A match day collection held at the Mennaye Field, Penzance, last Sunday raised the very healthy sum of £485-91 for the Royal British Legion.
The Cornish Pirates always endeavour to arrange such a collection to take place during a fixture nearest to Remembrance Sunday and this year was no different. However, it was, of course, a little extra special – the Pirates match versus Bedford Blues played on a day which marked 100 years exactly since the end of WW1.
Thanking the Cornish Pirates for their support continued, Annie Binding representing Cornwall RBL, said:
Our personnel greatly appreciated the hospitality extended them and thanks are also expressed for the generosity shown by the rugby supporters.
Besides the match day collection about the ground, 2 x RBL Poppy Appeal collection boxes left at the club also helped with the charity’s important fundraising effort.
