Having secured the services of prop forward Jacob on dual registration with Exeter Chiefs near the very end of the 2022/23 season, when he made appearances off the bench in the team’s final two league games at home to Hartpury and away to Richmond, it was in the summer confirmed that he would be dual registered with the Pirates again for 2023/24.

Considered a young player with huge promise, Jacob was new into the Exeter Chiefs senior ranks when joining there ahead of the 2022/23 season, and he was initially dual registered with Plymouth Albion. He had been introduced to rugby at the age of six at Old Reddonians, and then played at Cranbrook RFC before continuing his rugby development at the prestigious Whitgift School, which in the past has brought through the likes of Elliot Daly, Danny Cipriani, and Harry Williams. Jacob also played for Harlequins in the Premiership Rugby Under-18s League.

After leaving school, further education brought Jacob to Devon, where he enrolled at the University of Exeter and helped them win the BUCS Championship title in 2022, whilst also graduating with a distinction for a Masters in Financial Analysis and Fund Management.
