Young Cornishman Harry is one of the Exeter Chiefs contingent dual registered with the Cornish Pirates this season.
Having started playing rugby at St Ives, before moving on to feature for both Hayle and Penzance & Newlyn, Mounts Bay Academy educated Harry was earmarked as a young player with potential who continued his rugby development at Truro College and became part of Exeter Chiefs’ senior academy in 2020.
An explosive, ball-carrying hooker, who in the past has competed in discus throwing at England Schools championships, of interest his full name is Harry Oliver Hocking – him named after the famous St. Ives and Cornwall captain, and England trialist Harry Oliver.
Family-wise, Harry’s uncle Mark Friggens had England schoolboy trials and his dad Paul played rugby for St, George’s boarding school in Harare, Zimbabwe. His mum Sarah has been supportive and he is also the brother to Molly Hocking, who in 2019 won ITV’s The Voice singing competition.
As for influences, Harry’s favourite player is All Blacks’ hooker Dane Coles, whilst his favourite hobbies are swimming, fishing, and gardening
