Dual registered with the Cornish Pirates from Exeter Chiefs ahead of the 2023/24 season, after first playing rugby at Cargilfield Prep School in Edinburgh, Fin next attended nearby Merchiston Castle School, which since 1966 has produced 64 full international players.
Prior to heading down to Devon, where he studied for a law degree and played for the University of Exeter, including being a BUCS winner in 2022, Fin had played in Scotland for both Currie RFC and Edinburgh Academicals. Also, during his time in Devon, before picking up a hamstring injury the talented young prop was last season dual registered with Plymouth Albion.
Influences on Fin’s rugby career to date have been such as his under 14s coach Freddie Main, who taught him to enjoy the hard work and persistence needed to push oneself to the highest levels, his under 18s coaches at Merchiston Castle, Rob Moffat and Roddy Dean, and finally his family who, in his own words “have been my best supporters throughout my rugby career.”
As for hobbies and interests, Fin enjoys being in the sea and used to bodyboard a lot when younger. Of no surprise, on arriving in Cornwall he was also keen to learn how to surf!
