After it was confirmed in mid-March 2023 that Ben had joined the Cornish Pirates on dual registration with Exeter Chiefs, the powerful and abrasive backrow forward was quick to make his debut off the bench in a 34-31 win away to London Scottish. He impressed in five appearances, with it later confirmed that he would be dual registered for the 2023/24 season.

Having first played rugby at the age of 7 for Wadebridge Camels, Ben joined nearby Newquay Hornets to play at Junior and Colts level before signing for the Chiefs in the summer of 2021.

Educated at Wadebridge Secondary School and then at Truro College, where he studied Sport and Exercise Science, Ben next went to Exeter University to study for a degree in Business Management. Whilst at Truro College, having played for Cornwall age groups in two seasons he was selected in the England under 18s squad, only for Covid restrictions to frustratingly prevent game time opportunity.

An indoor British Rowing champion at the age of 15, present hobbies and interests for Ben include dog walking, going to the beach, plus spending time with his supportive family and friends, who he is keen to make feel proud. Also, of interest, all but literally looking ‘ahead’, after receiving a few tips from a barber, he has to his credit started cutting hair as well, “Just as something on the side of playing rugby.”
