With the season’s end getting ever closer, for their Round 20 fixture in the Greene King IPA Championship the Cornish Pirates travel to the Richmond Athletic Ground on Saturday to face London Scottish (ko 3pm).
The Pirates will expect another tough game in this 10th versus 5th in the league encounter at the ‘RAG’, aware that the home side will be keen to seek points to ease from the relegation zone. It will also be remembered that the last time the Pirates tasted victory away against the exiles side was as far back as September 2011.
Changes for the Cornish Pirates following their last outing at home two weeks ago against London Irish sees AJ Cant named at full-back, Alex O’Meara returning on the wing, Callum Patterson selected at inside centre, and Javier Rojas Alvarez moving to fly-half. Returning to the starting line-up in the forwards are hooker Dan Frost and flanker Dan Lee.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s fixture, Cornish Pirates’ co-coach Alan Paver has said:
We have naturally all been frustrated with recent results and aware that both teams look evenly matched we need to be mentally and physically hungry in our remaining three games, starting with this Saturday.
London Scottish have some quality players, so we’ve taken this game as if it’s a Cup Final and prepared the best we can. Hopefully we will have enough firepower on the field to get ourselves on the right side of the score but it is going to be tough.
