Next up for the Cornish Pirates is a Championship Cup game at home this Sunday against Hartpury RFC (ko 2.30pm).
This weekend’s Round 3 encounter is clearly one the Pirates will be keen to win, however at the same time not taking anything for granted against a Hartpury team that has lost its opening two games – 35-7 at home to London Irish and 43-14 away to Bedford Blues.
Changes in the Cornish Pirates starting line-up from the team that ran out against London Irish last weekend sees returns in the backs for full-back Kyle Moyle, wing Robin Wedlake, centre Callum Patterson, and scrum-half Alex Day, whilst in the forwards Josh Caulfield is named to partner Danny Cutmore in the second-row.
Looking forward to this weekend’s game, Cornish Pirates’ co-coach Alan Paver has commented:
Ego-wise we took a bit of a dent last week, however at some point there is inevitably a part change in focus from performance to development. Over six weeks of the Cup we endeavour to create a balance so made changes and the guys did extremely well up to half-time.
With a run of six Cup games it’s a case of trying to get the balance right selection-wise and prepare the best we can, with a response needed at home this weekend to also help us keep moving forward psychologically.
