This Sunday will see the Cornish Pirates play not only their eagerly awaited first home match of the season but also an opening Greene King IPA Championship league game for 2019/20.
Ealing Trailfinders will be in opposition for one of the campaign’s not to be missed matches, the visitors arriving in Cornwall on the back of three Championship Cup wins recorded against Bedford Blues, Ampthill, and Coventry.
It will be remembered that having finished runners-up to London Irish in the league last season, the Trailfinders at least had the satisfaction of winning the Championship Cup final played against the same team.
Like all clubs, the Pirates have just a few individuals recovering from injuries, whilst scrum-half Jean-Baptist Bruzulier is unavailable for selection this week having proudly becoming a dad again.
Assistant Coach Chris Morgan is looking forward to the Pirates having this early test against the Trailfinders. He has commented:
Ealing have been doing great things both on and off the pitch as they have developed to be a sustainable club. Playing them so early is a test but it will also be exciting to see where we are at.
Our squad, though relatively small, is a little bigger and every member is valuable to us, the aim being to give each game time in order for them to slot in seamlessly when selected.
We are expecting a good crowd on Sunday, when on the field our hopes will be to replicate the excellent work undertaken about the ground during the close season.
