Wooden Spoon Cornwall Collect £659-31

A collection held by Wooden Spoon Cornwall at the recent Cornish Pirates versus Jersey Reds match raised the super sum of £659-31 for the respected charity.

Present among the four collectors on the day was Cornwall RFU’s President, John Sumnall (pictured left in the photograph), who has since commented:

“We once again greatly appreciated the response shown us by the Cornish Pirates, with thanks as well to the club’s extremely generous supporters.

“Besides the collection it was also, of course, a great game to watch!”

As many will be aware, Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby, which funds life-changing projects that support children and young people with disabilities or living in disadvantage. Since 1983, the charity has funded more than 1,300 projects across the UK and Ireland, totalling over £29 million.

The focus is to help children and young people through projects such as sensory rooms, playground and outdoor activities, health and wellbeing and specialist equipment.

Of general interest, the Chairman of Wooden Spoon Cornwall is Alan Milliner MBE, and the Presidents are Martin Haag, Jack Nowell and Billy Keast. All have played for the Pirates.
