Appreciating the opportunity to hold a match day collection when the Cornish Pirates recently played Ealing Trailfinders at the Mennaye Field, the sum of of £569-39 was raised in support of the Veterans Charity.
Commentating on behalf of the charity, Jimmy Clark said:
“Our sincere thanks are once again expressed to the Cornish Pirates for providing the opportunity to make a collection for the Veterans Charity. The generosity and support of the Pirate fans for our Veterans on the day was fantastic, and the considerable sum of money raised will go a long way in supporting our Veterans in their hour of need.”
The Veterans Charity was founded in March 2008 to support UK Veterans of all generations.
It provides fast, direct support to Veterans across the entire UK who find themselves facing hardship and distress.
Essential items are suppled, including food shopping, clothing, household items like kitchenware and single appliances, utilities support and even smartphones and tablets to aid vital communication.
Despite being a small charity, operating on a small budget with few overheads, since 2011 the charity has provided essential items to more than 5000 Veterans and given guidance and advice to hundreds more.
