This Sunday will see the Cornish Pirates welcome Doncaster Knights to the Mennaye Field for a sixth versus seventh in the Championship clash.
With it being Christmas, and following the outstanding performance against Coventry last weekend, a big crowd is expected for the team’s last home game in 2024.
General information to note is as follows:
The Met office has issued a high wind warning for match day. We are monitoring the situation in case we need to implement our high wind contingency plan.
This would require relocating people from the main Truro & Penwith College grandstand to other parts of the ground.
Grandstand ticket holders will be able to use unsold seats elsewhere in the ground but we are mindful that there very few seats available under cover in the Microcomms Stand. There is covered standing at the Newlyn end of the ground for those willing and able to stand, plus uncovered seating in the Yeomans stand at the Penzance end and uncovered standing elsewhere.
People with limited mobility will be prioritised within the Microcomms stand. Unfortunately, for wheelchair users there is no alternative location under cover, but there is a dedicated space by the stanchion rails in the clubhouse corner of the ground.
Stewards will be on hand to help and guide people.
The wind will be monitored in advance of the match, and the club’s Safety Officer will make a final decision at lunchtime on the day.
“We are planning for the worst but hoping for the best” said Sally Pettipher, Cornish Pirates’ CEO, “If we need to put this plan into action, we ask that people to be kind and considerate to each other.”
Tickets – Tickets for the game will be available at the gates on the day (open 12.30pm), whilst in the meantime they can also be purchased on-line. For further ticket information please visit: www.cornish-pirates.com/tickets
The Pirates Shop – Still thinking Christmas presents! The shop will be open on Sunday when purchases can be made by CARD ONLY – No cash.
Match Programme – Supporters wishing to access the digital match programme can do so either via the social media link 3 hours before kick-off or via the QR Code located at various points around the ground.
Hospitality – Hospitality is full again this weekend. However, if you are interested in booking hospitality on future match days – please contact our Hospitality & Events Coordinator, Liz McLean – email: [email protected]
Parking Concerns – A problem highlighted last season was when a few supporters attending matches thoughtlessly parked on grass verges. This situation has improved, but when it happens it lets yourselves and the club down, plus naturally giving a bad impression of rugby supporters.
Post-Match Entertainment – The Yeomans sponsored marquee should be – no, will be – buzzing again post-match, so we look forward to your presence! The popular Cadgwith Singers will strike up as usual, to be followed then by the equally popular Will Keating.
Supporter Importance – As we have highlighted in the past, our support at the Mennaye Field helps tremendously when everyone gets behind the team. Outstanding on so many occasions, it will really help again this weekend, you really are our sixteenth man!
Live-Streaming – For those, however, who are unfortunately unable to make the match, please note it is being live-streamed. ‘Tickets’, priced £7 only, are available to purchase via: https://www.247.tv/champsrugby
Finally, Thanks Again for Your Outstanding Support – Enjoy the Game and A Merry Christmas to ‘One & All’!
