Robson returns to the Pirates

The Cornish Pirates are delighted to announce Fly Half Arwel Robson will return to the club. The Welshman, who has already made 51 appearances scoring 307 points in that time, rejoins the club ahead of the 25/26 season.

Robson departed the club in September 2023, to pursue a move to boyhood club Cardiff Rugby, where he played top tier rugby in both the URC and Europe. His next move took him to France and a successful spell with Stade Olympique Chamberlain Rugby Savoie Mont-Blanc. Robson helped guide the French side to a top of the table finish in the Nationale, who were then pipped in the play offs by Carcassonne.

Arwel spoke of his delight to be re-joining the club.

I’m really excited to be coming home to the Cornish Pirates – a club that means a lot to me and my family. I thoroughly enjoyed my first spell here and it was always a goal of mine to return one day. I’m excited to be working with Gav and Paves again and I am looking forward to meeting up with the new squad to see what we can achieve in a new and exciting revamped Champ Rugby competition.

Joint Head Coach Gavin Cattle said Arwel will return a better player after his stint in the URC and France.

We’re really pleased to welcome Arwel back to the Cornish Pirates. He knows the club well and made a strong impression during his previous time with us. Since then, he’s broadened his experience in both the United Rugby Championship and with a spell over in France – and we believe he returns as a more complete player. His game understanding and team awareness have developed and we’re confident he’ll bring real value to the squad this season.
