Reverse advent calendar initiative

Following on from the recent partnership announcement with Growing Links the Cornish Pirates are pleased to announce the ‘reverse advent initiative’ that will be running through December.

Every day from the 1^st – 25^th December items will be donated by players, staff and sponsors/local businesses – look out for our daily advent calendar on social channels, made up of familiar faces.

Rebecca Thomas, CEO of Cornish Pirates commented “There has been a great response to the match day collections at the London Scottish and Ampthill games so far and Growing Links are extremely grateful for the donations received.  The reverse advent calendar is a great way to be able to provide additional support to the community every day for 25 days and I am overwhelmed by the support pledged for this by our partners and local businesses since I launched the initiative.  We have worked with the Growing Links charity on a shopping list so every day a different item will be collected and donated in bulk.”

Rebecca added “Two of the advent days fall on match days and we will be continuing the match day collections at these games.  Supporters are invited to bring along ‘Tinned Meals, e.g. soups, pastas’ to the Ealing game on 3^rd December and ‘Jams/Preserves’ to the Doncaster game on 18^th December.  Out of 25 days, we currently have donor pledges/companies for 21 of them which is incredible and will provide Growing Links and the local community with additional support through what is often a tough month.”
