Prop forward Heaney joins on a short term deal

The Cornish Pirates are delighted to confirm the signing of prop Allesandro Heaney from MLR side RFC Los Angeles. The Irishman joins on a short term deal for the rest of 2025.

The 23-year-old Irishman, who stands at 6’ 1” and weighs in at near 19 stone started his rugby journey at Wellington College in the U18 Champions Cup, the NatWest Cup U15s, and for the Royal Marine Cadet Force. He then played at the University of Cork, where he played in the All-Ireland 1A League for Cork Constitution

Allesandro spoke on his excitement for joining the club.

I’m really proud to join the Cornish Pirates and look forward to the opportunity to show what I can do. Everyone has been really welcoming so far and I’ve only heard good things about the club. I can’t wait to get stuck in.

Assistant Head Coach Joe Walsh also commented.

He’s a very talented young player with experience in the All Ireland League, MLR, and pathway programs across both the UK and Ireland. He’s a motivated and hard working player and his capacity to play both sides is a great addition to our squad. We see him becoming a great asset for us this season and looking forward to seeing what he can produce at the pirates.
