Cornish Pirates Sign Fullback Will

The Cornish Pirates can confirm the signing of Redruth full-back Will Trewin on a one-year contract.

Born and bred in Cornwall, 23-year-old Will, who was educated at Mullion School, Truro College, and Cardiff Met University, first played rugby for Helston RFC, whilst all his senior rugby to date has been played at Redruth. His honours include firstly playing for Cornwall under 20s and then for the senior Cornwall side, plus he has featured for Exeter Chiefs under 23s.

A member of a sporting family, besides Will’s dad John who played rugby, Will also has two brothers, Freddy and Jamie who play the game. Freddie was in the successful Cornwall under 20s team that recently won the Jason Leonard U20s County Championship. Also, not missing out on family sporting involvement, Will’s sister Bryher is an avid Gig Rower for Cadgwith.

Commenting reference the club’s latest signing, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle said:

“Will is a fantastic character. He went to Cardiff Met and then played his first senior rugby for Redruth, providing another good example of that particular pathway working, as opposed to the traditional Academy route.

Gavin added:

“He is someone who fully deserves his opportunity with the Cornish Pirates, I am very much looking forward to working with him.”
