A recent Pirates ‘Golf Day’ held at Truro Golf Club proved very successful.
Cornish Pirates’ CEO Rebecca Thomas said:
“The event was organised in association with Brooks Financial Planning and Truro Golf Club to raise money for the White Gold Cornwall Charity Foundation, and a great day was had by everyone involved. The aim was to bring sponsors together in a fun environment and it was a huge success, with thanks to everyone involved.
“We had 10 players representing the Pirates in teams from businesses across Cornwall. Also, in the evening, after an enjoyable dinner and talk given by our joint head coaches Gavin Cattle and Alan Paver, there was an auction and raffle that raised an amazing amount for White Gold Cornwall.”
The total raised for White Gold Cornwall was £3,170.
Adam Brooks, Director of Brooks Financial Planning, commented:
“We have a longstanding affiliation with golf in the county and having linked up with the Cornish Pirates on other charity days it felt natural for us to have our own day together.
“Having a Cornish based charity to support was a must and with Truro Golf Club captain’s chosen charity, White Gold Cornwall, it was a perfect fit. We have supported Alan (Milliner) and the team as our company charity in the past and are aware of the great work they do for the most vulnerable in our county.”
“I would also like to thank Rebecca (Thomas) and Liz (McLean) from the Cornish Pirates for their support in making the day so successful, and a big thank you also to the 10 players who came and played in the various teams with local businesses owners and supports. I hear everyone had a great day and we look forward to making it an annual event – so watch this space!”

Also, on behalf of the White Gold Cornwall Charity Foundation, CEO Alan Milliner, MBE, said:
‘It was a pleasure to be a modest part of the significant fund raising at Truro Golf Club with the Cornish Pirates and Brooks Financial Planning. I am delighted that Peter Brooks the Truro Golf captain nominated White Gold Cornwall as his charity for the year.
“White Gold Cornwall provides one to one mentoring for the most vulnerable ‘at risk’ children and young adults across the whole of Cornwall, and the monies raised on the day will support those children who do not have any agency intervention.
“Even though there was a biting wind on the day, it did not alter the enjoyment of the positive participants, and the golf course was in super condition. Thank you, one and all!’
