Nodar is Selected in Georgia’s Squad
Cornish Pirates’ lock forward Nodar Cheishvili has been selected in Georgia’s 34 man squad to attend a training camp in France ahead of test matches to be played in the forthcoming TBC Rugby Series.
The Lelos, as the Georgia team is nicknamed, first play Italy at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence on the 10th November, and then have home games in Tbilisi at the Avchala Rugby Stadium against Samoa on the 17th November and at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium against Tonga on the 24th November.
Cornish Pirates co-coach Alan Paver, in expressing congratulations to Nodar, has said:
Having featured in our pre-season friendlies, Nodar has been bedding in during his brief time with us. When you play different systems it takes a while, however he is extremely well coached over in Georgia and already has international experience, so when he comes back we will hope to get him involved in our Cup matches.
The November TBC Rugby Series is generally considered as Georgia’s most competitive and important campaign of the year, and 2018 is no different.
With less than 11 months to go before the Rugby World Cup begins in Japan, this is an important stage in Georgia’s overall ‘Preparation Plan’ and provides a great opportunity to test themselves against very good teams who will also compete at the RWC next year.

This Saturday will see the Cornish Pirates welcome Caldy to the Mennaye Field for a scheduled Round 4 fixture in this season’s RFU Championship. The contest kicks off at 2.30pm. Playing their second season in the Championship, Caldy won 29-19 against London Scottish last time out.
