The Cornish Pirates can confirm that their Barcelona-born, former Argentine Sevens international player Nicolas Coronel, aged 26, is departing to join former club Lazio Rugby.
Injuries disrupted Nico’s year in Cornwall, during which the centre/wing made 15 appearances and scored two tries.
Coach Gavin Cattle commented:
It’s been a frustrating year for Nico, who is a big physical specimen but just had a series of unfortunate injuries.
We wish him all the best for the future.
Prior to his departure, Nico also said:
To all in the Pirates family I am really grateful for the experience gained during my time in Cornwall, which has helped me grow as a person.
I am returning to Rome to play for my former club Lazio, where I will strive to implement the good things that I have learned and also try to find a place in the Italian Sevens team.
