News from the Cornish Pirates confirms that Chris Morgan, sponsored by Kernow Model Rail Centre, the club captain for the past four seasons, has been appointed a player/coach.
Aged 36, ‘Morgs’ is looking forward to the role, commenting:
“Accepting this player/coach role is something I am really excited about and I feel very fortunate to be given this opportunity. My thanks are expressed to Dicky (Evans), along with Gavin (Cattle) and Alan (Paver) for putting me on this path.
“The body needs a rest as you get older, however I’ve got to put myself in a position whereby I am still ready to play and give the guys what I can on the pitch but to also give more off it, to support Gav and Paves in their roles.”
The appointment of the respected and experienced performer clearly provides a natural transition for someone who will not only be keen to offer value and worth as a coach, but when called upon to play will also give his all for the club and the players around him.
The partnership between the Cornish Pirates and The Movement Project (TMP) based at Penryn RFC continues to grow.

The Cornish Pirates can confirm that young hooker Oli Burrows, who is a former Wales under 18s and under 20s player, has arrived at the Mennaye Field on loan from Exeter Chiefs.
Of no surprise this Friday is a big night for the Cornish Pirates – a first ever Premiership Rugby Cup game for the club against the might of Bath Rugby. The kick-off is at 7.30pm and the gates will be open from 5.30pm.
