Morgan Nelson rejoins the club

At a time when there has been positive player news aplenty from the Cornish Pirates, it is confirmed that hooker Morgan Nelson will be returning for next season.

Aged 25, Morgan had made 49 appearances for the Cornish Pirates and scored 19 tries before it was announced back in October that the former Wales under 18s player had signed a contract with Gloucester Rugby.

Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Alan Paver, who is now looking forward to working again with Morgan, has commented:

“Before he left us Morgan was rightly earmarked as one of the best hookers in the Championship, and he now has the experience of having been involved at a top-level environment.

“We are clearly delighted that he’ll be back with us, as he is still young and ambitious and has a lot of rugby ahead of him yet. It’s a massive plus because he knows our set up, will fit back in easily, and he is one of those players who adds something extra, both on and off the field.”

Morgan has also said:

“Having the opportunity to come back down and play rugby for the Cornish Pirates is something special. I’m excited for next season and to see what the team can achieve.”
