John Gendall RIP

News this week has confirmed the passing at home of John Gendall, a former Pirates player and club stalwart who was also a Life Member.

John’s rugby interest was nurtured at Lescudjack School and then with our Mount’s Bay Colts team, before he moved up to the senior ranks. A wing forward, he played a total of 107 games for Penzance & Newlyn RFC during the sixties, whilst his ‘craft and graft’ would also later help improve our clubhouse and grounds.

As an often jovial and popular character, who will be remembered too as being dedicated and conscientious, John was also a Colts official, a member of the Supporters Club, a fund-raiser, and a successful 3rd. team manager!

Sincere condolences at this time are expressed to his wife Lorraine and all members of his family, and an update will follow in the coming days.
