Workout With Exeter University Proves Beneficial
When the Cornish Pirates welcomed members of the Exeter University rugby squad to the Mennaye Field on Thursday, the visit proved beneficial to both teams.
Arriving from Exeter early, a busy workout morning followed, and the day ended with a short afternoon training game.
Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Alan Paver commented:
“Our relationship with Exeter University is a good one, noting that in recent years several Pirates have played for their side. Also, my coaching colleague Louie Tonkin has had a lot of contact time with them over the last couple of years or so.
“Their programme is as good as any out there, and they produce a considerable number of gifted players who are very aspirational. Some of their guys also train with Exeter Chiefs and it was good to welcome them all to the Mennaye Field.”
Alan added:
“We always look for quality organised sides to come down here, and fitting well both teams derived benefit and it was a huge help to our pre-season.“
Having gained promotion as Champions of the South West Premier league last season, Exeter University will this year feature in National League 2 West, where Redruth also play.
