Club Statement – Venue Change vs Ampthill

MATCH MOVE TO CAMBORNE

Come and pack the Rec at Camborne Rugby Club as they host us for Cornish Pirates vs Ampthill this Saturday 24th January at 2pm. Please note the change of KO to 2pm.

Storm Damage at the Mennaye

Making the Mennaye safe for Saturday became untenable today with the assessment of the electrics. Water getting into places it shouldn’t has made the electrics unsafe.

RFU permission

The RFU came on Friday to assess the damage to the Mennaye and to review other clubs for exceptional permission for us to play elsewhere. Camborne Rugby Club facilities, with some temporary provision of head injury video technology (Hawkeye) were deemed acceptable. The RFU has given a special dispensation to move kick off to 2pm and play without floodlights. 

Honouring Season Ticket Holders seating

All Tribute Grandstand and Microcomms Stand Season Ticket Holders with be guaranteed covered seating in the Camborne covered stand. Areas for hospitality guests, away directors, medics, analysts and the media will be allocated in there. Any remaining covered seating will be available only to those buying Microcomms tickets online this week.

Tickets sales on the Gate

These will only be for ground access, and will be Card only (no cash), costing £20 standard, £16 concessions and FOC for children under 16. 

Camborne RFC Members discount

We will offer a 20% discount to all Camborne Season ticket holders making a ground entry ticket £16 and a grandstand £20. Membership cards will need to be shown. 

Pirates shop

There will be a small selection of Cornish Pirates merchandise available, again, Card only (no cash) for this match

Hospitality Guests

There will be a two-course meal provided by Roseworthy Farms to all our hospitality guests, and coaches interviews as per normal. The room is smaller, so there is no room for new guests, but we look forward to welcoming our match day and match ball sponsors and especially SUEZ our sustainability partners. This is sustaining Cornish Pirates rugby at its core!

Ground access 

Camborne seconds will be playing on their alternative pitch at the same time and parking in their carpark. There is ample parking in the school next door. Plus there is a short walk from Camborne Town centre and an easy walk from the train station. 

How big can it get?

We are looking forward to welcoming a huge crowd for the first time since our British & Irish cup final win over Munster in May 2010 at Camborne. How many of you remember that one? Our Head Coaches do, as they played and lifted the trophy!!

Costs & Profit Share

We have to stand the cost of Hawkeye installation which runs into thousands, plus we have agreed a profit share with Camborne RFC for their kindness in hosting us. Do please come – every ticket sold helps us in these exceptional times and supports Camborne Rugby Club as well as Cornish Pirates. 

Raise your voices

Every supporter’s voice is a boost to the lads, and we are aiming for a big win. 

Will Keating has generously offered to come and entertain the crowds.

Five minutes before kick off we will sing our Anthem “Cornwall My Home” led by Will on the pitch.

Broadcast

We will be being live broadcast on ClubberTV to the world. Let’s show them the best of Cornwall and the power of the Pirates of Penzance even when we have left harbour and are sailing on the high seas!!
