CEO Sally Pettipher made the following tribute following the untimely and desperately sad passing of Buddha Hunt.
It is with the greatest sadness that Cornish Pirates learned of the sudden death of one of its owners consortium, Buddha Hunt. Officially Christopher, he was Buddha to us. He was a proud Cornishman and a front row player in his rugby days. He had a deep understanding of the game, and was a support to our Head Coaches, as well as an astute businessman who helped create a stronger commercial base under new ownership.
He was larger than life, a bon viveur, eternally generous with his wit and his wine. We are immensely shocked and saddened to lose him.
Our hearts go out to his family, especially his wife and son. It was his son Freddy who encouraged him to take up an ownership position with Cornish Pirates as part of his commitment to the community here in the Duchy. He was a long standing Harlequins supporter, and remained so; but added Pirates to his life, and we are the stronger for that.
Buddha, we are devastated to lose you. Watch over us. Our success is your success as you laid the foundations for our new era.
