Scrum Half Alex to Leave the Pirates
At a time of the year when player news is inevitably very much on the agenda, the Cornish Pirates can confirm that scrum half Alex Schwarz will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
A former Wales under 18s player, Alex won caps against France, Scotland and Japan, and has also in the past played for Italian side Rugby Colorno, Scarlets Premiership Select, and for RGC (Rygbi Gogledd Cymru) from where he joined the Cornish Pirates back in 2018. Now aged 31, having bedded in comfortably he has since made 106 appearances for the club.
Speaking ahead of Alex’s departure, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle has said:
“Overall, Alex has been a great servant, as having proudly reached his 100 games milestone confirms. He brings tempo to the game, possesses a good skill set, plus being an aggressive character in defence it is one of his points of difference.
“This season has probably been his best in the number ‘9’ shirt and, having been up against some very good scrum halves in the past, he has always held his own. Also, off the field he has been a leading contributor, who we thank for his efforts and wish all the best for the future.”
