Dual registered with Exeter Chiefs for the 2021/22 season, Rus’s services were called upon right at the end of the campaign when he impressed in his two appearances.

Similarly dual registered this season, supporters will be keen to see more of the Suva-born player who moved to England with his family when he was four and later began to make waves in the rugby world.

A product of both the Ivybridge AASE programme and Exeter College, Rus shone at both England U18 and U20 level, which is perhaps no surprise considering the family tree. His uncle, Akapusi Qera, who has appeared against the Pirates several times, has 65 caps for Fiji, his elder sister Lagi Tuima is an England international, and then there is ‘Cousin Joe’ – Joe Cokanasiga – who has also played for England.

Having been blooded to senior rugby, both with the Exeter Braves and on dual-registered terms with National League side, Plymouth Albion, Rus made his Chiefs debut in a Premiership Rugby Cup fixture against Bath at Sandy Park in 2019, and a full Premiership debut off the bench against Wasps at the Ricoh Arena in January 2021.
