Confirmed in July 2022 that Essex-born Matt was to be dual-registered with the Cornish Pirates from Exeter Chiefs, he in his first season made 24 appearances for the club.

Having played rugby at the age of six for Upminster RFC, Matt was educated at Coopers’ Company and Coborn School, and then at the University of Exeter from where he graduated with an MSc in Financial Analysis and Fund Management with Distinction.

It was after playing and impressing for the University of Exeter in the BUCS Championship that powerful tight-head prop Matt was brought in the into the Exeter Chiefs squad during the 2019/20 season. He made his Premiership debut for them away to Saracens and has also featured on loan at Taunton and Coventry.

Throughout his playing career to date Matt has greatly appreciated the help given by his coaches and the support from friends and family. As for

hobbies and interests, he enjoys reading, playing the piano, plus a little golf!
