Coal is a Chartered Accountant and has extensive corporate governance experience.

Originally from Truro, Cornwall, for the past 25 years, Coal has worked for the Tetra Laval Group, heading M&A. Coal is a professional director who sits on and chairs various NZ, US and UK Boards ranging across investments companies, start-ups, high-performance sports, and agri-tech companies.

An energetic supporter of League, Cricket and especially Rugby Union. Coal represented England Schoolboys and Colts, as well as Cornwall at all levels.

A past Chairman and current Vice President of Waikato Rugby, who was instrumental in NZRugby’s Silver Lake deal in 2022.
