Next up for the Cornish Pirates is an eighth versus third league match contest on Saturday away to Coventry. The fixture at the Butts Park Arena in Round 17 of the RFU Championship kicks-off at 3pm.
The two teams have already met once this season, and despite the Pirates emerging 40 points to 5 winners at home in October, they will rightly be taking nothing for granted this weekend.
In the forwards, flanker Matt Bolwell returns to the side for Saturday’s encounter, with Josh Caulfield moving up into the second row. As for the backs, another returnee is fly-half Arwel Robson, whilst a fit again Callum Patterson, who appeared last week as a replacement following an ACL knee injury suffered just ahead of the Saracens match last March, is selected at outside centre.
On the bench hooker Tom Cowan-Dickie, who has made a return to the Pirates this week on loan from Leicester Tigers, will wear the number ‘16’ shirt.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s contest, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle has commented:
“There was much to please in our game against Nottingham last weekend, however we are aware that Coventry can be dangerous opponents, especially at home, and likely to be fired up we would expect no other.
“As ever, in the Championship, clearly no team can be taken lightly, and as we strive for a result on Saturday our challenge as a group is simply to again push our performance level and see where it takes us.”
