Following their last seconds win at home against Ampthill, and then a no rugby reserve weekend, the Cornish Pirates are next in Championship action away to Coventry on Saturday (ko 3pm).
The match at the Butts Park Arena will be a sixth versus seventh clash in the league, with the two the teams only separated on points difference having thus far both played 5, won 3 and lost 2 games each.
Of general interest, Coventry have been boosted of recent with the signings announced of scrum-half Will Chudley and back-rower Tom Dodd, who both join from crisis hit Worcester Warriors.
There is just a single change in the Cornish Pirates selected XV from the one that started against Ampthill, with Callum Sirker replacing the injured Robin Wedlake on the wing, whilst on the bench fit again prop Olly Adkins will be hungry for action having recovered from an injury sustained in the pre-season match away to Taunton Titans.
Speaking ahead of this Saturday’s contest, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle has commented:
“We are aware that the present league position suggests where we are at in our development, and no disrespect to Coventry this week is more about focusing on ourselves rather than the opposition.
“Addressing our high penalty count is a must to concentrate on, as are the areas of our game where we are not getting the accuracy, or the intensity, aimed for.
“Having said that, as a group getting the result against Ampthill showed tremendous grit, character and perseverance when it mattered, so what we need now is much of the same over eighty minutes plus.”
