Following their Championship win away to Caldy last weekend, the sixth-placed Cornish Pirates will welcome unbeaten league leaders Coventry to the Mennaye Field on Saturday (ko 2.30pm).

Changes in the Cornish Pirates starting XV from the one that ran out on The Wirral sees Chester Ribbons selected in the 12 shirt, Dan Hiscocks named at scrum half, and James French at tight-head prop. Two players on short term loans from Exeter Chiefs are lock/backrower Lewis Pearson, who was a replacement against Caldy, and backrower Martin Moloney who will be making his debut for the Pirates.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s encounter, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle has said:

“Firstly, our win away to Caldy was satisfying for a variety of reasons. We were a little up against it at halftime, so to ultimately come away with a convincing result made a good outcome.

“As for this weekend against Coventry, they have had a fantastic start to the season. Well coached, and having recruited strongly with certain recognised names, we’ll have to put our best foot forward against them at the Mennaye.

“We have been close to some of the top teams in the league, but I think it’ll be post-Christmas when we see the true measure of where we are at. Like most squads, we have missed certain key players through injury, though off the back of that we should be in a better place when they return. In the meantime, we’ll keep soldiering on.”

The Cornish Pirates full selection for Saturday is as follows:

Cornish Pirates:   15 Will Trewin 14 Arthur Relton 13 Charlie McCaig 12 Chester Ribbons 11 Matt McNab 10 Bruce Houston 9 Dan Hiscocks; 1 Billy Young 2 Harry Hocking 3 James French 4 Charlie Rice 5 Lewis Pearson 6 Martin Moloney 7 Will Gibson 8 Hugh Bokenham (captain).
