The Cornish Pirates have teamed up with Trink Dairy, which is a family run Dairy Farm on the outskirts of St. Ives.
Trink Dairy’s owners, Chris and Rachel Knowles recently welcomed representatives of the Cornish Pirates along to the farm to enable the visitors to witness first-hand what is a truly impressive business set in an idyllic location. Those present included the club’s Strength & Conditioning Coach Greg Sammons plus players Callum Patterson, Javier Rojas Alvarez, Jake Ashby and Jordan Payne.
Trink Dairy’s customers travel from all over Cornwall to buy their milk because they share a passion for good quality food and drink.
Hearing this is of no surprise to Greg, who wholeheartedly appreciates the nutritional benefits of Trink Dairy’s milk. He has commented:
Given a brilliant welcome by Rachel and Chris, and building a good relationship with them, we look forward to getting more and more local Cornish companies on board.
Chris told us about the farm’s proud history which we all found interesting, remembering that Kiwi Jake has a dairy farming background and Callum sheep farming experience in Ireland.
Milk is extremely good for us, especially from a recovery aspect, so player-wise we use it mainly for that. The best quality we can get the better and working with Trink Dairy their milk doesn’t only taste amazing but because of the processes it goes through is pure milk at its best.
Rachel advised:
The farming system at Trink Dairy is a sustainable one, in that it produces its milk from grass grown on the farm with the majority harvested naturally by the cows grazing! The blend of Jersey and Friesian breeds with a diet of home-grown grass, produces a smooth nutritious milk, which is high in protein and full of flavour just right for the Pirates players. The milk is pasteurised on farm – with nothing added or taken away – so with no food miles is extremely fresh.

Only last year former England prop Joe Marler spoke highly of the white stuff after he drank two pints of milk a day which aided his astonishing recovery to fitness after having been diagnosed with a broken leg.
For awareness of coffee lovers, one customer of Trink Dairy came to them because he had heard about their milk and how much better it handles in the popular brew.
