Tackling Kidney Transplantation in Cornwall

The Cornish Pirates were recently very keen to welcome representatives from the Renal Unit at Treliske Hospital to a match at the Mennaye Field.

Taking the lead at the end of Cornwall Live Kidney Donor Awareness Week were Live Donor Transplant Specialist Nurse Angela Fordham and Liver Transplant Donor Administrator Laura Jackson, who with colleagues distributed leaflets to help raise important profile.

Laura has since commented:

We finished our Cornwall Live Kidney Donor Awareness Week with a visit to the Cornish Pirates home match where we were warmly welcomed and very grateful for their support.

Speaking to supporters in the marquee and about the ground we were able to provide them with extra information about our campaign, and especially with refence to joining the organ donor register.

Laura added:

“We were also told to enjoy the rugby, and we most certainly did – as the Pirates won 18-15 against Bedford Blues.”
