The Cornish Pirates ‘Tribute Player of the Month’ for March has now been confirmed, and for the second month running the award goes to hooker Sam Matavesi.
Alongside Sam, other worthy nominees as voted for by club coaches Gavin Cattle and Alan Paver were Brett Beukeboom, Christian Judge, and Kyle Moyle.
Sam, aged 26, not only featured in all four games played in March, but was the St. Austell Brewery man-of-the-match at home to London Scottish. He also scored two tries in that fixture, besides crossing for one in the league win away to Hartpury RFC.
The St. Austell Brewery ‘Tribute’ Player of the Month award was introduced last season, with the coaching team nominating four players each month. The winner is presented with a case of Tribute Ale, as is one lucky voter each month, who is chosen at random.
St. Austell Brewery proudly sponsor the Cornish Pirates, and the link for the ‘Tribute’ Player of the Month nominations and awards is at www.tributeale.co.uk.
The four players nominated for April are Nicolas De Battista, Kyle Moyle, Christian Judge, and Brett Beukeboom.
Supporters should note that votes should please be cast by this Friday 4th May, to enable the winner to be announced at Friday evening’s end of season Dinner & Awards Event being held at the Penventon Hotel, Redruth.
