In Support of the Sport Cornwall Foundation
Gathering at the Mennaye Field, Penzance, this morning were four of the six participants who will be partaking in a unique ‘A Million Metres’ challenge fundraiser that gets underway tomorrow – and no, it’s not an April Fool!
Pictured left to right in the photograph image displayed are Cornish Pirates’ Team Manager Matt Evans, plus Supasport SW C.I.C.’s Lead Coach Martyn Webster, Director Dan Stidwell, and Managing Director Jamie Thomson. Also taking part in the challenge will be Cornish Pirates’ Assistant Coach Matt Jess and Truro City FC’s player and Assistant Manager Stewart Yetton.
This exciting fundraising campaign has been organised by Supasport SW C.I.C. in partnership with the Cornish Pirates and Truro City FC to support the Sport Cornwall Foundation.
The aim is to run a combined 1,000,000 metres over the course of the month, with each having to run seven kilometres every day for 30 days consecutively to achieve their target. This will result in each of them completing a distance of 210,000 metres which is the equivalent of running from Truro to Bristol or running nearly five marathons each in one month.
The six participants will be running in their locales, with Matt Evans confirming that his first run tomorrow will be from his home in Penzance to Mousehole and back.
Anyone wishing to give support by making a donation, whether individual or corporate, will enable more people, families, adults and children across Cornwall to access sport or exercise and experience the benefits of an active lifestyle.
