When the Rugby World Cup gets underway in Japan in a month’s time, there will be added interest for supporters of the Pirates.
Recent news confirms that Cornwall-born Cornish Pirates hooker Sam Matavesi has been selected in the Fiji squad (the Flying Fijians) along with his utility back brother Josh, who plays for Newcastle Falcons. Also, for England, wing Jack Nowell and hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie have been selected – both products of our Penzance & Newlyn RFC youth section.
A media company visited the Mennaye Field grounds a few weeks back to interview and film representative personnel who coached both Jack and Luke and certain friends who played alongside them during their formative years at the Pirates.
