Mennaye Field Drainage Improvements

At the end of an exciting but wet season of rugby action at the Mennaye Field, the opportunity has this week been taken to carry out certain much needed drainage work.

Playing the leading role to help improve drainage in targeted worst areas, and to avoid the level of problems experienced, has been WR Sandow Ltd, Sports Ground Contractors from Hayle.

Aimed at developing an improved playing surface not only for the Cornish Pirates but also for the club’s various youth sides and the Pirates Amateurs, channels have been excavated with piping, graded gravel stone and root zone (a sand/soil mix) laid.

Besides the above important work, ground staff volunteers have been busy about as usual, whilst a delivery of Astro-turf is to be placed in the dug-out areas and on the field in front of the main grandstand.
