Hooker Sam is February’s ‘Tribute’ winner

The Cornish Pirates ‘Tribute Player of the Month’ for February has been confirmed.

The worthy nominees for the latest award, as voted for by player/coach Alan Paver, were Christian Judge, Dan Koster, Kyle Moyle and Sam Matavesi, and it is hooker Sam who received the most votes.

Sam, aged 26, featured in the three games played in the month, including a man-of-the-match performance at home to Yorkshire Carnegie in the Greene King IPA Championship.

The St. Austell Brewery ‘Tribute’ Player of the Month award was introduced last season, with the coaching team nominating four players each month. The winner is presented with a case of Tribute Ale, as is one lucky voter each month, who is chosen at random.
